Rule Amendment
To prevent a cycle of challenges between 2 people a new rule is being added to take immediate effect.
It was possible for 2 of the top 4 ranked players to effectively "lock" the top spot by simply challenging each other in turn.
Due to the rule of only 1 challenge per person at any one time this would prevent anyone else challenging the top spot.
Rule Adendum 1
- Players may not make or agree to play challenges while they have a challenge outstanding (either as Challenger or as Defender).
- "Rematch" - If you lose a challenge you are welcome to issue a "rematch" to try and reclaim your place, however if another player
issues you a challenge you must accept and play the challenger as you normaly would, within 10 days or forfeit your place after 10 days. This is the only time you can have more than ONE challenge
at a time.
Example
C challenges A and wins. A requests rematch with C. D challenges A - normally this would not be allowed, but the new rule means A must accept
and play both matches within the usual 10 day period.
This should prevent two people endlessly looping matches and preventing others from playing.
COLOUR CODING
To help identify who is available for a challenge the following colours will be used to flag players:
| challenged | | unavailable |
| Rematch | | can be challenged |
Scratch Snooker Ladder Begins
The starting positions have been drawn by Steve Cross & lou Demaris, these can be seen to the right of the page. Remember to report all results

Scratch Snooker Ladder 2009
The initial ladder positions have been drawn for the 16 players registered at 31 March. However, it is not too late to take part, although new entrants will start at the bottom of the ladder. New players should register with Nick at Pot Black or email him at nik@yeovilpotblack.co.uk
A player (the ‘Challenger’) can then challenge a player up to 3 places above him (the ‘Defender’). If the Challenger wins, then the two players exchange places on the ladder. If the Defender wins, then no changes occur.
A player may not be involved in more than one challenge (as either Challenger of Defender) at any one time, but there is no overall limit to the number of challenges which may
be made.
The season will last until 29 September 2009 at which date the top three places will share the prize pot.
It’s FREE to enter the ladder, but the Challenger pays for the table cost which will be charged at half-rate for Challenge matches, PLUS £1 per challenge towards the end of season
prize pot.
Ladder Rules
- Starting positions will be determined by random draw.

- Players may not make or agree to play challenges while they have a challenge outstanding (either as Challenger or as Defender).
